In the Fall of 2004, Russell Akers, owner of Doyle Studios, LLC, bought the “Big Pink” building,
nicknamed by his crew. It was originally built in the 1930’s to be the Savannah Dairy,
processing and bottling plant. After demolition, the original concrete footprint was preserved
along with most of the metal girders and bar joists. Many of the glass bricks were reworked into
the walls to allow more natural light and atmosphere. By the Summer of 2006, the virtually
indestructible 2424 Drayton Arts Center was completed.
